Colorado Springs Wood Staining Services

Colorado’s harsh climate makes periodic wood staining services an absolute must for homeowners in Colorado Springs with interior and exterior natural wood. Decks, fences, siding, trim and doors get pummeled by the unpredictable Colorado weather outside. The dry and arid climate does a number on interior surfaces like kitchen cabinets too. We’ve been in business in Colorado Springs for years and we’ve lived here even longer – we know how hard it is to keep natural wood protected.

AMC Painting offers interior and exterior staining services that protect natural surfaces from being abused by weather and climate. Let’s take a look at how wood stain can benefit you.

The Benefits of Wood Stain

Getting 300 days of sunshine each year is great for tourism – but not so great for wood fencing, decking, siding and trim. Your exterior wood surfaces need a little help to stay strong in the harsh Rocky Mountain climate. That is where wood stain can make an amazing difference in the longevity of natural wood. Let’s take a look at some of the benefits of wood stain.

Natural wood is a beautiful way to decorate your home and enhance its value. However, wood is a naturally porous material that can easily become damaged if it is not properly treated. Stain soaks into the wood and fills the empty spaces that allow moisture to penetrate the wood and introduce mold, moisture, rot and mildew into the core. Stain is a barrier that doesn’t distract from the beauty of the wood’s natural grain.

UV light is one of the most relentless sources of damage to natural wood. Colorado Springs offers ample sunlight all year long and that is extremely hard on decks, siding, planters, trim, doors and other wood structures. High-quality wood stain contains additives that shield natural wood from the damaging effects of the sun. Think of it like applying a long-lasting sunblock to your deck.

Professionally stained wood structures bring a beautiful, natural look to your home’s indoor and outdoor spaces. A well-stained deck can add thousands of dollars of value to your home, as does well-maintained fencing, trim, doors or any other stainable structure. Wood elements are highly desirable to potential buyers.

Give Your Natural Wood Surfaces a Fresh, New Look

AMC Painting can help you with a variety of staining projects. Take a look at some of the surfaces/structures that we can help you refresh with a fresh coat of stain.

Deck Staining Services

Deck staining is one of the most popular services in the Pikes Peak region. As wood staining contractors, we see the toll the climate takes on wooden decks every day. Many homeowners hesitate to refinish their decks, believing it is a costly and time-consuming process. To be fair, that is sometimes true. However, many deck staining projects don’t require the sanding and scraping we’ve all come to associate with refinishing natural wood. AMC Painting can remove most debris that would impact the project with our pre-stain power washing services and get started restaining your deck once it has thoroughly dried. We will help get your deck looking like a showstopper and help you keep it protected through anything Colorado decides to throw at it.

Wood Staining in Colorado Springs

Wood Fence Stain Service

AMC Painting’s wood fence stain service can make natural wood fencing look refreshed while protecting it from UV damage and moisture. Even the best treated lumber is not invulnerable to the elements. Wood fencing is a highly exposed structure and without any sort of protective coating, moisture and sunlight can damage the wood. Anyone who has weathered a wind storm in the Pikes Peak region and lost a fence knows just how expensive a replacement can be! The crew at AMC Painting will power wash your fence to remove stain and dirt and restain it with the shade of your choice. If you’re looking for an affordable way to improve your property and protect your fencing, a new coat of stain is a great option.

Wood Cabinet Staining Service

Remodeling or refreshing your kitchen or bathroom doesn’t have to be a chaotic construction project. Sometimes you can make an exponential difference by simply changing up the cabinets. Cabinets take up a lot of real estate in any room. They can also make your home look dated or worn if they are covered with an old or off-trend stain. A refresh can brighten and modernize your home at a fraction of the cost of a renovation. Don’t limit yourself to kitchens and bathrooms. AMC’s wood cabinet staining services work great on in-home bars, built-in consoles or that random sink unit the last homeowner randomly installed in the hallway.

Door and Trim Stain

Natural wood accents like solid wood doors, siding and trim create a distinguished look for your home. However, they are under a lot more pressure to protect your home than features like painted or composite siding. Wood stain does a lot of the hard work in keeping your wood accents from getting ruined by the sun, wind, rain and arid climate. We are experienced in working with a variety of wood siding, plus exterior doors and decorative trim. We can give your old wood siding new life with an updated shade and advanced UV-protectant stains that make it nearly impervious to moisture. We can help you create a statement front door that makes the grain of your natural wood shine.

Interior and Exterior Stain Brands Used by AMC Painting

AMC Painting uses Sherwin-Williams stain to complete most of our wood staining projects. These high-quality stains are designed to protect your natural wood surfaces from UV damage, moisture, rot and mildew. Sherwin-Williams also offers an extensive selection of colors and finishes so you can achieve your vision for your home. We will also use other brands by request. However, please note that options for warranties may change if another brand is selected.

A Note About Potential Disruptions to the Supply Chain

AMC Painting may experience issues with providing certain brands and finishes due to current supply chain issues affecting the industry at large. Rest assured we will always provide the highest quality stains and finishes available and inform you immediately if your preferred brand is unavailable and include suggestions for a suitable replacement.

The AMC Process for Exterior Wood Staining Projects

Prepare the Site

AMC Painting will advise you of any items in your yard that may need to be moved during the staining process. Our team can help with moving some heavier items if you are unable to do so before your appointment.

Clean and Power Wash the Deck

A clean surface provides the ideal bond for your new stain and prevents issues with uneven application. Our team will professionally power wash your deck or fence to remove dirt, debris or old stain that is chipping away. In the case of re-staining projects, power washing will also remove old stains safely, without sanding. The surface will be allowed to dry before Step Three is completed.

Apply Stain

Depending on the type of stain selected, our team will apply one to two coats to your deck or fence.

Quality Check

After your initial coat(s) of stain has been applied, we will apply any necessary touch-ups to your deck or fence. This is a normal step in the process, as different pieces of wood may absorb color differently, no matter how the stain is applied.

Your site manager will do a walkthrough of your project to ensure you are satisfied with the final results. We accept payment on your proposal only after the job is completed.

Our technicians will clean up the site and leave it looking like we were never there. The only evidence left behind will be your like-new deck or fence.

Tips and Reminders for Preparing Your Site for Wood Staining

When it comes to staining projects, AMC Painting will handle the majority of the work. However, there are a few steps you can take beforehand to streamline the process and minimize the disruption to your home.

Our AMC Painting team can help you with heavier objects. Your estimator will make a note of any items that need assistance. They will also inform you of items that may require a professional, such as large planters or outdoor kitchen set-ups.

We love dogs, cats and every other friend you might have roaming the yard. We even bring our dogs to the office. However, it is best to keep them secured for their safety and to avoid mishaps like pawprints on a freshly stained deck.
